| Referee - Alan Butler - Sutton | Linesman - Joe Taylor - Lincolnshire | Last season Alan Butler took charge of two Crewe matches and they were probably two of the more memorable Crewe. In December is was the man in black as we stuck 8 past Doncaster through a Deano hat-trick, Vaughan, Lunt, Jones and a Jack brace. Cards were kept firmly in his pocket for that LDV tie.
Later in the season he came under fire from Oldham fans when he had judged that Oldham's Fitz Hall had pushed Steve Jones when through on goal. Hall was sent off and Oldham's dirty Wayne Andrews was booked as Crewe won 3-1.
2001-2002 he was referee for the re-arranged game at Birmingham. After it was postponed at half time after a waterlogged pitch Crewe fell to a 3-1 defeat that started out spiral to the 2nd division - that game also saw no bookings.
2000-2001 saw him book David Wright at West Brom. In 99-00 Cramb and Lunt struck Crewe to victory over Vale with Butler booked 3 Vale players and sending off Vale's Snijders in the last minute. Wright and Lightfoot were booked in 98-99 vs Swindon.
This season Butler has given out 20 yellows in five games and sent off 2 players in his first game. | | Linesman - Patrick Keane - Midlands | |
