Referee - George Cain - Merseyside
Linesman - Bob Pollock - Merseyside

George Cain is an experienced referee after starting his career in 1997. Cain has been a ref in Division 3, 2 and now is a regular ref in Division One. Last season most of his games were in Division One although he did referee our home match against QPR as Steve Jones scored his first 2 league goals to seal a 2-0 win. That game he didn't book anyone.

The season before, in 2001-2002, he was referee at home to Millwall in the 1-0 win and the 4-1 defeat at West Brom and again not a single card was issued in either of the matches.

Don't worry, he does have some cards, honest. In the 2-1 defeat at Deepdale, Preston, in 2000-2001 he booked Rivers and Sodje. Also in 1998-1999 he booked two Swindon players as the Alex crashed 2-0 at home.

In his first season as a referee he was referee at Bury, when Adebola scored a equaliser in the last 10 minutes, he didn't book anyone.

So only 4 cards in 5 matches isn't bad going. He has given out 6 cards in 3 matches this season, after 46 yellows and 1 red in 34 games last season.
