Put your left foot in, your left foot out...

I can't put my finger on it but something just wasn't right. It was either, the players just weren't bothered, they were getting end of season nerves or the pitch is worse than we thought. We were second to everything, our passes were going astray and we just failed to muster up any decent chances.

Ashton made one of his own beating 3 or 4 players before just smashing his shot well over in the first half. Lunt’s penalty, which was won by Jonah running into the box and falling over a leg, was woeful and came back off the post. I think that's as close to a goal we got all game.

The pitch didn't help and is certainly the worst in the football league. It was pointless, we had to defend all the time as we couldn't get it on the ground and with gale winds around
Gresty Road we weren't having much luck with the hoofing game. Along with that we have end of season nerves. The players were jittery and maybe knowing Cardiff were losing just got them a tad jitterier and added the pressure onto them.

After the first 5 minutes in the first half we were well and truly out played and didn't have a clue what to do. Like I’ve said the pitch isn't good enough to have us passing on it and the wind was too fierce for our long ball stuff.
Swindon though was obviously more experienced at it as they weren't the most joyful team to watch.

Now, onto the player’s commitment. There's no question they want to go up, there's no question they're as gutted as us but one thing we can question is why there wasn’t 100% there today? Ashton, Hulse, Brammer and Lunt to mention a few just didn't turn up today. The only players to come out of the game with any decent credit were Jones, Sorvel and Walker. Jones has only just come back from injury but he chased balls and got up and down the pitch. Sorvel broke down every attack, apart from their goal of course, and was my MOTM. He's certainly proving many doubters wrong.
Walker though I continuing his recent form and remained solid, got the sponsors MOTM. The rest have nothing to be proud of though.

Swindon had one chance in the first half when a corner was headed down but Lunt on the line stopped it just in time. Their goal though was a different story. Mostly a blur but I know Miglioranzi picked the ball up 20 odd yards out and just hit a hard shot shoulder height at Ince but Ince’s parry skimmed into the back of the net.

It was the final nail in the coffin and everyone knew it was going to happen. It hadn’t been our day from the 6th minute on. A consolation is Cardiff lost 3-0 to Colchester; they now face 3 tough games against Bristol C, Wigan and us so if they go up they will have deserved it. However the bad points are that 5 teams are challenging. We need to beat Barnsley to eliminate 3 of those and if Bristol City can draw with Cardiff on the Tuesday we would only need a win at QPR.

It’s all there and there is NO NEED for anymore pessimism. Today was probably nothing more than a bad day at work on a crap pitch. Our away form might prove vital to win the next two games… let’s go and grab 2nd place!!! And please, if you’re going to matches do NOT boo … get behind the lads because we will do it, even if it’s the hard way.
