Crewe played host to Alex Ferguson tonight as he came to Gresty Road to watch his son, Darren, play for Wrexham.
The game from start to finish was physical and the first 10 minutes saw Justin Cochrane and Wrexham's Darren Ferguson were both booked by card happy Trevor Parkes.
The Cochrane booking was purely laughable, the booking was for a two footed tackle from behind - it was actually a one footed tackle from the side on Ferguson.
There were no great chances in the first half. Lunt a couple of times got in a tangle in the prenalty area and after several passes Dave Brammers half volley inside the area went straight at Andy Dibble in goals.
At the end of the first half Ashton was booked for a nothing tackle.
In the second half Wrexham started the better team, again. When Hector Sam was put through one on one with Ince it looked certain he would score but somehow he chipped it onto the top of the crossbar and over.
Crewe were to open the deadlock though with a Dean Ashton penalty. Ben Rix was bardged over in the box and the ref immediately pointed to the spot. Dean Ashton slotted home in the bottom left corner on the 58th minute.
Crewe Alexandra 2-0 Wrexham
Wrexham nearly equalised minutes later when Steve Thomas tried to chip Ince from the right wing, it certainly got Ince worried as he tried to find his feet the ball looked to have gone in at the top left corner but thankfully it had only clipped the roof of the net.
The match was sealed minutes from time with a Jones wonder goal. A long ball up from Moses was chased down by Jones, as Dibble in goal back tracked with Jones' back to the goal Jonah quickly turned and chipped the ball into the far right corner. Winning the game 2-0.
Dario talked about Jones after the match:
"He didn't have a great game early on but he just stuck at it and got better and better,"
"He scored a super goal and I'm really delighted for him because he's worked hard for that, not just today but Saturday as well. It is a great credit to his fitness and desire for the game."
