It's Bodin well for resurgent Gulls

Billy Bodin scored his second goal in two games as the Torquay made it three wins on the trot, with a 3-0 victory at Crewe.

Rene Howe gave the visitors the first-half advantage before Lee Mansell and Bodin both netted to put the game beyond the sorry hosts.

Howe fired the Gulls into a deserved ninth-minute lead with a fierce left-footed strike into the roof of the net.

The away side totally dominated the opening 45 minutes, with both Bodin and Eunan O'Kane hitting the upright.

Howe almost doubled his account but shot inches wide after being given all the time in the world to turn and unleash a rasping 30-yard effort.

The Alex offered little with Ajay Leitch-Smith, Byron Moore and Shaun Miller all failing to test the keeper with wayward efforts - while Luke Murphy headed another good chance over the bar.

Miller went close with a shot and a header after the break but the Gulls were soon back on the front foot, as Bodin forced Steve Phillips into a one-handed save before Howe dragged a low strike just wide of the post.

Mansell then gave the visitors a two-goal cushion, drilling past Phillips in the 54th minute when Alex failed to clear from a corner kick.

Bodin put the game to bed in the 68th minute, skipping past Adam Dugdale and slipping the ball past Phillips into the bottom corner of the net.
