Irish striker Eamon Zayed is set to complete a move to the Alex onloan next week. The half Tunisian Irish U-21 international has had a trial with the Alex, along with Torpedo Moscow and Everton, and after negotiations with his club Bray Wanderers he will sign a loan deal to keep him at the Alex till the end of the season.
Dario could sign Zayed tomorrow if needed but due to a unknown compensation fee needing to be paid for the 20 year old Dario would rather wait and see what that compensation fee is, whilst seeing Zayed in competitive football for the first time.
Dario told the club's official site: "We have made progress with the Irish lad Eamon Zayed and we hope to complete a loan deal on Monday. He will be with us until the end of the season and that will give us time to assess if we want him on a more permanent basis.
"Neil (Baker) played him against Port Vale for the reserves and he scored a goal and did well. The video I saw was unconclusive, so I'm backing Neil's judgement again and we will have him with us until the end of the season. As always, I'm happy to do that and the chairman, Alison and Neil have been in contact and everything looks okay.
"I didn't want to pay out any money for a maybe, perhaps kind of player, so the loan deal with give us a chance to have a look at him in more detail. It is a question of him proving that he can make the step up to this standard of football, but his record in Ireland is very good."
Zayed was due to go to Spain for another trial next week but will now fly over from Dublin to complete the loan move on Monday, which means Zayed won't be available for selection till the trip to Walsall on 7th February.
