21-year-old Connerton and 20-year-old Mellor 20, took part in a training camp in Spain with IBV last month.

"Given the opportunity I'd take up the offer, but it depends what Crewe feel is best for themselves and for me," Connerton told BBC Radio Stoke.

"The coaching methods are a lot different, although they do try to play like Crewe, which is a good thing.

"It's nice to know that Crewe are doing stuff in my best interests and by giving me an opportunity they probably think it's going to benefit me.

"I'd quite happy to go if the opportunity arose."

Connerton joined Crewe from non-league Lancaster City in March 2010 for a fee of £30k and was then sent back on loan to the Dolly Blues for the rest of the season.

Connerton's only appearance for the Alex was when he played 78 minutes as the Alex were beaten by Championship side Ipswich after extra time in the second round of the Carling Cup.

Mellor's only first-team action to date with Crewe was as a late substitute in the 2-1 victory at Morecambe in November.

Both players featured in a friendly match for IBV during the training camp, with Connerton scoring a hat-trick in a 7-0 win.

Both players have spent part of the season on loan to non-league clubs to gain valuable match experience with Connerton having a spell at Nantwich Town while Mellor has had spells at Newcastle Town and Leek Town.

AJ Leitch-Smith and Chris Clements spent the summer in 2009 playing for IBV but returned early as the Railwaymen suffered injuries to players at the start of that season.
