Both players who featured regularlyin the academy last season with Lund netting 18 goals in the academy league with Marshall scoring 8 goals as well.

Attacking midfielder Lund and striker Marshall have been at the Alex from a young age and were offered deals but it seems the 18-year-olds have rejected them.

Instead the two players seemed to have opted to join former Youth Team coach Steve Holland and look to sign for Stoke City on professinal contracts.

Crewe youth team coach James Collins told BBC Radio Stoke  "If a Premier League side wants two of our 18-year-olds, it shows we are still producing excellent players."

Collins added: "We've heard nothing from the lads though, so I have no idea if it's true."

With the two players looking to join Stoke the Premiership club will have to pay the Railwaymen compensation.
