After going from 4 quite experienced strikers Dario now only has two, in Jones and Ashton. Smart is out for four to six weeks and Jonathan Walters loan period ended today(Saturday).
The only back up Dario has going into the side is Paul Edwards, who's still recovering from an ankle injury, Luke Varney and James Robinson. The latter two did have their chance though and showed they aren't quite up to the task - yet.
With goals lacking in the Crewe team Dario really needs to find a striker to start getting them and help Jones and Ashton build their confidence in front of goal. Next week could see a possible loan from the premiership with Dario interested in the likes of Eddie Johnson from Man Utd, 19 year old former Alex trainee who moved to Man Utd 4 years ago, now featuring in their reserves.
Or if Dario sees that the striking options needs to be fixed once and for all he could splash the cash on a striker like Jon Stead or Dave Kitson - both are reportedly being watched by Alex scouts in the 3rd Division.
