Dario says that David Wright is good enough to play in the premiership. Dario talked today to dimiss rumours that Fulham even bid but also revealed that he had spent day at Leeds United's training ground after a good friend of his, Peter Reid, offered.

“I think David Wright could play in the Premier League and it has always been our policy to help our players move on when the time is right. We never want our players to feel they are trapped here, if they sign longer contracts.

“David has been playing like a Premier League defender this season. In fact he has been immaculate and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone go past him. If I was at a Premier League club, I would certainly take him because he is a good player and will only get better.

He added: “David did spend a day training with Leeds United. I spoke to Peter Reid about him and he invited him to train with them to see how he got on. I think Peter was reasonably interested in him but not enough to do anything before the deadline.

“I get on well with Peter and we want to help David Wright. This is not about money; it is about David Wright and him trying to further his career."

Dario then slammed the journalists who suggested Fulham had struck a done deal to take David Wright to Loftus.

“I don’t know where that came from and it was absolutely ridiculous to say that we had agreed a fee with Fulham. It is irresponsible journalism because I haven’t spoken to anyone at Fulham about David.

“We didn’t receive a bid for him yesterday. Not from Leeds or Fulham. All I’ve said is that he is good enough to play in the Premier League and we will try and assist him in doing just that. I think David is as good as Rob Jones when he left us for Liverpool.”
