Chris Karagionus wasn't mentioned in interviews with Dario Gradi about trialists but the youngster has been on trial and catching the eye of Dario. The striker started against Nantwich last night and scored 3 of Crewe's 6 goals. The American is impressing Dario - and although not on the plane to Portugal could still be in contention for a contract.
Dario reveals to the Sentinel how he got his chance:
"He's an American boy with a Belgian passport. A friend of mine from West Palm Beach asked me if I would have a look at him. He's a college boy and he has been lively in training. He took his goals very well and if that is anything to go by we'll have another look at him."
So Nantwich one week - who says players should take it slowly when stepping up? Not Dario.
"I might chuck him on against Liverpool for a bit, which should be a bit of a thrill for him."
