"Crewe have been able to produce their own players and sell them for a healthy profit but even they are finding it hard to do that now.
"Crewe allowed Dario Gradi to build at the club by giving him a long contract, I think he's been there for nearly 20 years, and they reinvested the profits into the youth system - but nobody is buying players anymore.
"It will change again - in a couple of years when there isn't as much money on the table from television.
"This club has also reinvested money into the youth setup with the sale of young players but it is something that takes time - something Dario Gradi has had."
"We have a Centre of Excellence and even if we could afford an Academy it's not necessarily the answer," he added.
"To fit the criteria for example you have to have better indoor facilities and qualified people for each age group which is something we couldn't afford.
"But in any case it doesn't alter the raw talent. In some ways having an Academy is too comfy for young players - they are too pampered.

Well looking at it now he's still wrong. While we enjoy life at the top of Div 2 in no financial worries. York City sit near the top of Div 3 but even if they do get promotion they might never see Div 2 football as they are on the verge of going under. Bristol City in the past year have also disagreed with Mr Dolan and have taken after our example and have got plans in place to build an Academy to bring in their young talent.
