Westy signs improved deal

"Dario told me that if I established myself in the team and became a first-team regular then he would look to up my contract again and he has stuck to his word and I'm delighted.

"It means a lot to me and I've worked out that is now three in a year, so all I can do is keep going and repay the faith Dario and the club have shown in me.

"Dario wants me to stay and I am more than happy to stay here. I would love to stay here throughout my career. That wouldn't bother me because it is an honour to play for Crewe.

Westwood only recently signed an improved deal back in December 2009 but with some solid performances in the first team the club offered another improved deal.

The Crewe born defender/midfielder scored 6 goals in 38 apperances and in the process picked up the Player of the Year Award at the club last season.

Westy came through the academy ranks at the club and made his debut in March 2008 as a sub against Millwall. The player came close to being released last summer but it was former manager Gudjon Thordarsson that managed to ensure that the player stayed.
