We haven't bid for David Graham. So?

Torquay United have made a statement saying they haven't received a bid for David Graham after a rumour on their official site messageboard. Graham is a highly rated striker down in the Devonshire region and has scored 11 goals in 21 games for the 'Gulls'.

Plymouth Argyle bid for the 25 year old last week but their £25,000 bid was laughed off by the Torquay chairman Mike Bateson. Messageboard rumours say that we, Crewe, are also interested Scot striker and the rumours went so far as to say that we had bid for him

Torquay say that isn't the case, but would listen to any offers upto £100,000:

"There's no doubt we'll get some stick if David is sold but be prepared because he has a clause in his contract that allows him to talk to any club bidding over a certain amount,"

"I know the Crewe management well enough and it's a surprise that nobody has been in touch to talk about the incidentals such as the transfer fee.

"Aside from the Plymouth bid, we've had a tongue-in-cheek bid of £25,000 three weeks before the Argyle interest.

"Last week, we had an offer of £50,000 which I had no hesitation in turning down. Other than that there are no offers on the table for David."

Have to say this all seems like a little ploy by Torquay to tempt us to bid, if we are interested in him. With Allan Smart signing a one year deal and Jonah and Ashton bang on form... do we need Graham??
