Walton Passes Derby Medical

The former Shrewsbury player will end his 6 years at Crewe when he signs for Derby County on Tuesday next week.

Walton's time at Crewe was somewhat dampened by the amount of injuries he picked up, last season though saw him play 35 games at the heart of the defence and helped us onto promotion. The 30 year old was offered a new one year contract in April but Walton rejected it stating he was "going stale" at Crewe.

Today, after completing his medical, Walton told DCFC.co.uk: "It's a brilliant ground and a massive set up, I've also looked around the training ground. With George Burley as manager I just wanted to get here straight away. Crewe is renowned for it's academy but it's not a patch on the facilities at Derby"

Maybe the Geordie was having a little dig at Crewe there?
