First though he reminds his fellow Welsh - they aren't a big club: "We're not scared of Cardiff City at Crewe. We were in the First Division for five years and we played against a lot of big clubs like Wolves, Birmingham and Blackburn, so why should we be afraid of Cardiff?"
Get in there Vaughan. He continued to have little pops at Cardiff City, who are coming to Crewe's promotion party on May 3rd.
"People shouldn't be surprised that we're in the top two. We were very unlucky to get relegated from Division One last season.
"We're one of the best teams in this division. Hopefully we can prove that by going up automatically with Wigan."
He then moved onto even more issues :
"Everyone knows that Cardiff have spent a lot of money to try and win promotion, We've spent hardly anything at all.
"Money doesn't guarantee success. It seems you can't beat good coaching and having good young players.
"When we drop points, Cardiff also drop points. When we win, Cardiff also win, so it does look like it will go down to the wire.
"We're two points in front of them and they don't have any games in hand over us any-more. So winning promotion is in our own hands - and Cardiff have still got to come to our place."
Then gave his verdict on how the run-in will go.
"We can only concentrate on ourselves," said Vaughan. "We can't do anything about Cardiff.
"All I know is that if we win all our matches then we're up. We are a good footballing side but it's all about taking your chances and winning games now. Hopefully, we will win games while Cardiff slip up."
Can Cardiff handle the mind games?
