Dario Gradi has said that he is still hopeful of signing Juan Ugarte but has conceded that if his agent produces a list of "outrageous demands" then the deal to sign the Spaniard could well be off. Gradi faxed Ugarte a copy of his contract last week whilst the striker was on holiday and he said he would sign when he got back. The former Real Sociedad hitman is believed to still be on holiday and having previously stated that he thought Ugarte was "very keen" to sign, it appears Dario has altered his stance on the situation. Dario went on to draw comparisons to a situation involving Wayne Collins during his move back to the club.
Despite Dario's often hostile attitude towards agents, he also indicated that nothing had actually gone wrong yet and even admitted that he has no problem with agents who does his job properly: "His agent wants to give us his opinions. If an agent justifies his position then I have no problem with that."
The Ugarte saga should draw to a conclusion soon with the Crewe boss stating that he would be "surprised if we don't have a decision before the end of the week." Dario also mentioned briefly that the loan deal to bring another striker in, believed to be Eddie Johnson, is still on as he is "still hopeful of bringing in both strikers but with all transfers you never know."
