The Railwaymen came away from the New Den with a 2-2 draw to earn a replay at Gresty Road a week next Tuesday.

New Crewe manager Gudjon Thordarson gave his view on the draw to the official website:"I was pleased with the way the players came back in the second half and in the end it is a good result for us because from finding ourselves 1-0 up, we were 2-1 behind very quickly going into half-time. Credit to the players because they came back very well and showed great spirit and committment.

Thordarson added

"Dennis was excellent today, he was our captain and was cool in the head throughout. His goal was made a little easier once the goalkeper had decided to leave his goal line.

"Our goalkeeper could have done better with both goals but it is a mistake and you just have to get on and get on with it. He did."

"We knew young Shelley can strike free-kicks like that. I've seen it in the practice and it was an excellent strike. He was committed in the game and played well and had the confidence to step forward and take it. The execution was superb and the performances of the youngsters is very pleasing. They have carried themselves forward and it is up to them to hold onto their shirt.

"We had young Murphy battling away and defending with real committment. It is very healthy to see the young players take their chance and I would encourage them to do so.
