The youngsters keep marching on

The Alex comfortably saw off 2nd Division Swindon Town without the help of 16 year old England U-19 international Billy Jones, who was playing for the first team against Derby, and England U-17 international Gary Roberts, who's still suffering from a ankle injury picked up in the 4th Round against Cirencester. The inform youngsters had no problem from the off and early in the second half Adam Howard showed good control to bring down Rob Lloyds volley before smashing it home.

Howard played a part in the 2nd goal when his shot was parried by the Swindon keeper only as far as Maynard who scrambled home the goal with 15 minutes to play. The best was yet to come as wonder striker Kyle Wilson completed the win in the final minutes. Wilson found space on the edge of the area before curling it into the top corner.

It sealed a 3-0 win and a place in the Semi's. In the semi-finals they'll play either Middlesbrough or Tranmere, who play tonight at 7pm, in a two legged affair.

2002's winners Aston Villa are the only other team guaranteed a place in the semi's. They beat West Ham United. They face a tasty tie against either Manchester United or Blackburn, who play each other on Saturday at 2pm.
