The Chester born keeper becomes Crewe's only keeper at this present time with Ben Williams deciding to leave and Owain Fon Williams stalling on a three year deal.
Tomlinson is ruled out until the back end of the year as he recovers from a cruciate injury sustained while on loan at Burton Albion.
23-year-old Tomlinson is a product of the clubs academy and so far made 17 appearances for the Railwaymen but has yet to secure the keepers gloves long enough.
The Cat only made one appearance last season and that was against his home town club Chester in the JPT. While he only made one outing for Nigel Clough's Burton Albion before sustaining his knee injury in training.
No doubt upon his recovery Tomlinson will be pushing for the number one jersey although he may face some competition if coach Steve Holland signs two goalkeepers.
