Tranmere Rovers today completed the signing of ex-Welsh International Gareth Taylor subject to a medical. The 33-year old who had been on loan at the Alex last season signed a two-year deal after he was released by Nottingham Forest.

Crewe boss Dario Gradi had offered the 6ft 2' striker only a one-year deal but Taylor and his agent sounded out that they were looking for a two-year deal.

Ronnie Moore had shown interest first at Oldham Athletic before he was shown the door due to poor season ticket sales, then a few after his departure he became Tranmere's manager.

Then it was only a matter of time before Moore swooped for Taylor who now looks to set up a partnership with Chris Greenacre as Tranmere look to make a promotion push.

Tranmere Rovers Manager Ronnie Moore said ‘Gareth is a great signing for the Club. He knows how to lead the line and is a handful. He has played at the top level and will be a leader on the park for us.' '
