Supporters Trust - Update

Last updated : 04 March 2008 By ChalkDust

The Committee of Crewe ASi would like to thank all our members and fellow supporters for answering our "call to arms" and turning out in numbers at the Crewe Alexandra AGM last Thursday. The attendance was really very impressive.

We are now moving forward and exploring our options as regards the formation of a supporters' trust. To the extent that it is possible to do so, we should also like to involve the club in this process.

What is a Supporters Trust?

The basic definition of a Trust is a democratic, not-for-profit organisation of supporters, committed to strengthening the voice for supporters in the decision making process at a club, and strengthening the links between the club and the community it serves.

Notwithstanding the above, a trust can take a number of forms each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Consequently, we need to be certain, before we do anything, that what we are doing is right for the ASi and its members, for the supporters of the Alex generally and the football club we love.

We have already taken advice from Supporters Direct, and would encourage everyone to visit their Web Site where an excellent FAQ document details exactly what a supporters trust is, what it involves, and how it can benefit the club and community in general.

We would like to assure our members and fellow supporters that we won't do anything without consensus. We shall, of course, keep you informed and look forward to your continued support.

Kind Regards

CREWE ASi
