Super Dan on the move

Every Alex fan has a place in their heart for Danny Murphy. The midfielder came up through the Alex ranks and broke into the Alex first team at just 17 but just three years later, Roy Evans's Liverpool put in a £3million bid for Danny and it was just too good to refuse for all parties. Danny signed for Liverpool but came back just two years later on a 3 month loan to prove to Gerard Houllier he's good enough.

In 1997, after helping Crewe secure safety in Division One, he returned to Liverpool and never looked back. He has played over 150 games for his boyhood club but it seems new manager, Rafael Benitez, feels he is no longer needed. Today Liverpool accepted a £3million bid from Jacque Santini's Tottenham Hotspur.

If the move goes through then Crewe might be in for a little windfall from it.  Most deals out of Crewe include sell-on clauses, if the Danny to Liverpool deal had one then Crewe could get anywhere in the reigon of £200k-£300k.
