The long hard search for a striker to replace Luke Varney will not be easy stresses Technical Director Dario Gradi.
Gradi was on a scouting trip last week and took in the game against York City and Stevenage Borough last Saturday as he rued his eye over two players, one being Steve Morison.

24-year-old Morison who bagged 27 goals last season for the Hertfordshire club has already netted six times this season including three in the last two games as Stevenage secured top spot in the Blue Square Premier league ahead of Aldershot.

Gradi told www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk "It would be very difficult for us to get players from Stevenage because they are top of the Conference," admitted Gradi, "Some of their players will be earning more than ours are.

"But we have got to keep watching players and not be put off by poor individual performances. I was put off by Dave Nugent when I went to watch him several years ago and he has since proved himself to be good enough."
