With the loan window due to shut next month Steve Holland is still working hard to bring in a striker.
Already since the emergency loan window opened Holland has already attracted winger Gary Roberts (Ipswich Town) and former player and Captain Kenny Lunt (Sheff Weds) to the club but he still looking to add to his attacking options.
Latest name to be mentioned is Norwich City's young striker Chris Martin the 19-year-old who made his debut for the Canaries in January 2007.
The Beccles born striker proved an instant hit with the Carrow Road faithful netting 5 times in a month for the Canaries.
With his performances for the first team he was called up to the England U-19 squad and made his debut in a 1-0 over Turkey.
This season has seen a change of management at Carrow Road and opportunities few and far between for the striker who last appearance was against Bury in the FA Cup.
Martin however has been scoring in the reserves and on his last outing he netted a hat-trick against Luton Town as they romped to a 5-0 win.
It is believed that Crewe have asked Norwich manager Glen Roeder about the availability of Chris Martin but are still awaiting for a response from the Championship club.
Another striker being targeted is Hibernian front man Clayton Donaldson who was signed from York City during the summer.
Bradford born Donaldson hit the headlines last season netting 24 times in 43 appearances for the Minstermen and netting 40 goals in 85 appearances during his time.
Donaldson signed a pre-contract agreement with Hibs last January and joined Hibs for nothing during the summer and this after York had turned down a £50k bid from Hibs.
Since his move North of the Border Donaldson has struggled to command a place and has only made 11 appearances netting 5 times for the Hibees including a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Kilmarnock.
24-year-old Donaldson has only made two appearance since the start of the New Year with his last coming up against Rangers in the Scottish Cup.
Donaldson is contracted to the SPL club until 2010 but may look to end his time at Easter Road and have his contract paid up.

Last but not least is Steve Jones who is now believed to have been given permission to come to Crewe on loan once he has been declared fit by the Burnley medical staff. Jones has been used as a sub 16 times this season and just like Kenny Lunt wants first team football.
Jones who picked up a knee injury in the 2-1 away win at Coventry in mid January has been receiving treatment and is still a few weeks away from being fit but hope to complete a move before the loan window closes.
