Stefan Oakes spent a impressive 3 months onloan at the Alex, from Leicester, during the final moments of last season, with his last game coming against QPR where we tied up promotion back to the first division.
Oakes showed the class he was capable of and impressed Alex fans but the midfielder went back to Leicester where he was released, when asked whether he would stay he admitted he would take a big wage cut to stay on at Crewe but Dario insisted Oakes was a luxury Crewe simply couldn't afford.
He signed for Walsall a month later but since the start of the season Oakes has fallen out with the Walsall manager and his only appearances have come as a sub, on Monday he was released and today signed a 18 month deal with 2nd Division Notts County.
