Sodje On The Move

Coming a month after his Nigerian teammate, Ade Bankole, was told he was no longer needed, Sodje has also been told he can leave the club if he can find a club to take him.

Sodje was dominant in the 2001-2002 season before he jetted off to Japan and Korea for the World Cup with Nigeria. After playing against Argentina and England Sodje got a bit too big for his boots. It's fair to say Dario and Sodje have never been friends and the rift continued when by the end of last season Sodje was behind Foster, Walton and Walker in the team. His chances only really came when there was a shortage of right backs.

Sodje has become a fans favourite with a few fans, although not me personally, and it all being mainly down to having a personality on the pitch - instead of the skills.

Dario told Sodje he wasn't needed at the club, back after his sending off against Wigan. Daro was forced to stick with him though after a few injuries. Sodje will no doubt have some interest in him, and only last month he was reportedly seen visiting his former club Macclesfield. Sodje only has a year left on his contract.

With Walton being shown the door, and now sodje, the Alex are short on centre backs with only Foster, Walker and McCready remaining. Crewe were last month linked with former triallist Danny Hay, who is now nearing the end of his contract at Walsall.

Neil Baker though dismissed them report to the Sentinel: "Hay is not one we're looking at. I saw him quite a bit when he was playing for Leeds reserves, but not while he was at Walsall. And he has had injury problems since."
