Seven released
Today the Alex announced that seven players were to be released from the club, these being Richard Walker, Anthony Tonkin, Adie Moses and Justin Cochrane. Walker made 117 appearances for the Alex since he came through the youth ranks and an enquiry was made from Port Vale back in January. Justin Cochrane had been more or less frozen out of the first team this season and had a loan spell with Gillingham and more recently a trial with Championship side Luton Town . Big buy Anthony Tonkin will not be having his contract renewed, the £175k buy from Stockport County has failed to shine. The last high profile player to not have is contract renewed is Adie Moses the 31 year-old Yorkshire born defender has had another season blighted with injuries and has only made 46 (11 sub) appearances in nearly three years at the Alex. Also youngsters Kyle Wilson, Andrew Bond and Alex Morris will leave for pastures new.
