The pacey right back has shown his potential over the past few weeks and Dario moved quickly to secure his services until the end of 2004.
The 21-year-old has provided the reds with another attacking dimension down the right flank, and Gradi was extremely pleased to have kept him, especially in the wake of Liverpool's ever growing injury crisis.
He spoke to crewealex.net:
"Jon has added excitement to both ends of the pitch. He is not fazed and he will score goals from his full-back positions. His passing is very good and he can create goals too. Having Jon, and Tonks on the left, mean we have two raiding full-backs and they are difficult to pick up and that has made a difference to us.
"He has made a few defensive mistakes but we expected that because we defend differently from Liverpool and if he wasn't making mistakes he would be in Liverpool's first-team."
