Savage signed for Derby County in January from Blackburn but has failed to shine for the Rams and is now frozen out of the first team at Pride Park.
Quoted in the Mirror is that Crewe Technical Director Dario Gradi wants to offer Savage a player coaching role at the club and also add experiance to a young midfield.
