Crewe's, reported, £200,000 bid for Luke Rodgers was rejected and slammed by Shrewsbury Town this morning. Shrewsbury have made their intentions clear - give us a million or you don't get him.
| Price tag of £1million.... No chance of him becoming a Crewie. |

Shrewsbury and their manager Jimmy Quinn are under no pressure to take funds to the club, despite being relegated, they managed to get quite a bit from two cup runs in the FA Cup - where they played Everton and Chelsea - along with a area final in the LDV Vans Trophy. The conference club have made it clear in local press that the price tag on Luke Rodgers is £1,000,000 and to get him someone will have to break a record to make Rodgers the first million pound man straight from non-league.
Ofcourse Crewe's spending limit is quite abit below £1million and Dario said last week Crewe won't be pushed into handing over silly money for anyone. So the striker search goes on. With a possible £600k to spend from the Hulse sale Dario could choose from many and some names in the hat could be players like Iysden Christie, from Mansfield, who last season Dario said that he would by Christie if he had the money. Christie scored 27 goals for relegated Mansfield in division two last season.
Who knows? One things for sure Dario needs to act quick and get a striker in by the end of the month.
On the Anthony Tonkin deal, the bid looks to have been accepted and Dario will be hoping to get Tonkin in by Friday 12pm - the deadline to sign players to play on Saturday.
