Rix to sign for 2007

Rix signed a contract till 2006 earlier this year but Dario says it's important for the youngsters to have their contract regularly reviewed. Rix will signed a contract, like Vaughan's, that will see him secured for a further 4 years.

Dario explained to the Sentinel:

"We're always looking to see if players deserve a rise and we do tell them we will try and talk to them before they talk to us about their contracts,"

"We're giving Ben the same contract as David Vaughan has just signed. It gives them both a rise and some security.

"He is making the progress we had hoped for and partly expected, but you do learn not to expect too much. He's worked very hard and no-one has been into the training ground more during the summer than Ben.

"He's lasting the games better and we've always known he's got the technical ability. I think he'll get better and better as he keeps his place in the team."
