Ben Rix has had his chances of a loan move to Chesterfield scuppered following complaints of mumps at the League One club. Rix was due to play in a trial match for Chesterfield but he will now have to wait for the bout of mumps to clear. Rix missed last season with shin splints and illness but recovered in time for pre-season but has seen first team opportunities limited so far this season. Having seen Gary Roberts rise above him in the pecking order, Dario revealed that Rix has asked to go out on loan, "Ben asked if he could go out on loan and I've said yes. I'm not telling him I want him to go out on loan but if he wants to, he can, so he was all set to go to Chesterfield and play in a practice match this morning."

Rix has previously seen loan moves to Port Vale fall through and will be frustrated yet further by the latest blow to his chances of first team football.
