Rivo Loan Bid Shunned

Dario Gradi has 'sensationally' tried to bring former Alex favourite Mark Rivers back to Gresty Road to cover for the 8 injuries to the first team. Rivers left Crewe in 2001 after handing in his transfer request. He left a month later for Norwich for £500,000. Rumours soon flew around that Rivers did a bit of back stabbing in the local Norwich paper, but indications now show that to be false.

The 'tricky' winger has, reportedly, fallen out with the Norwich boss Nigel Worthington and now finds himself struggling to get into the first 16 at the table topping Canaries. Dario saw Rivers as the perfect man to replace the injured Luke Varney, and Mark Rivers also was looking for the chance to return. Norwich, though, refused to help us out:

Dario Gradi:
"Rivo keeps in touch and he indicated that he thought he was well out of the running there at the moment and they would let him go out on loan, but they won't.

"We spoke to Doug Livermore and he said Rivo had been in and broached the subject but they want him and to be fair, I wouldn't let somebody like him out on loan either.

"We know Doug well from his Liveropool days and I'm sure he'd help us if he could,"
