Ridsdale has poured cold water on talk of linking the Bluebirds with midfielder Gary Roberts and striker Nicky Maynard.

Reports from South Wales suggested that the Bluebirds were favourites to sign Roberts from Crewe in a £150k deal, while speculation had also linked them with a potential £2m move for Nicky Maynard.

Cardiff are looking favourites to sign Charlton Athletic striker Marcus Bent.

Roberts had been left out of the party that travelled to Bulgaria this week so that he could speak to two unnamed Championship clubs believed to be Blackpool and Cardiff City.

Bluebirds chairman Peter Ridsdale told the South Wales Echo "In both instances it is just pure rubbish"

"We have not made an offer to Crewe, but have not even made an enquiry about either player." he went on to say "There is no truth in these rumours whatsoever."
