The Crewe management team are still looking for more recruits in the defensive department, a problem that has blighted the team for past few years.
The club hope tie up the deal of Daniel O'Donnell next week and with Neil Cox looking to spend more time on the bench the Railwaymen are hoping to add to the defence
One shock signing could be Chris McCready who only joined Tranmere Rovers last season on a free transfer and impressed the Wirral based club.
25-year-old McCready was a regular last season and has been offered a new contract at Prenton Park but Steve Holland could persuade the former youth team player back to Gresty Road, as Holland had worked with McCready in the past.
McCready turned down a two-year deal at Gresty Road last summer and opted for a one-year deal and more money instead at Tranmere Rovers. Chester born McCready made 42 appearances in the league last season and seems to have got rid of the niggling injuries that blighted his Crewe career that only see him make 69 appearances in 6-years.
