Red's defender look set for loan stint.

With one game gone already Crewe boss Dario Gradi has already plunged into the transfer market.

Gradi expects to complete the loan signing of promising defender Danny O'Donnell tomorrow. With Mark Roberts going out on loan for much needed experience at Halifax Town and with club captain Neil Cox out injured, Gradi has moved to ensure back up for Kempson and Baudet.

O'Donnell starred in the pre-season friendly for Liverpool back in June the 20-year-old defender played for 69mins before being replaced by Jack Hobbs.

O'Donnell started life by playing in the local amateur league in Liverpool and was spotted by scouts back in 2002, by 2005 the promising defender then moved to Liverpool to train full-time in 2005. He then played for the Academy and was U-18 captain before stepping up to the reserve level.
