Railwaymen take Flixton striker on trial.

Flixton who play in the North West Counties Premier divison granted permission for the former Glasgow Celtic player to have a trial at Crewe for the next few weeks.

19-year-old Gardner was spotted playing for Manchester College Academy (who are affiliated with FC United of Manchester) back in 2008 when he was spotted by scouts and was offered a trial with Celtic's youth team in October 2008.

An outstanding performance for the Hoops against Rangers earned the Gorton born player a contract until the end of the season, although this was extended to a three-year-deal in February 2009.

Although come the end of the season he was released with many U19's player in May 2009.

Gardner then moved back to England and joned Flixton FC where yet again his performances for the Lions have been noticed by a few clubs including Oldham Athletic.

Gardner joins Crewe next week on trial and hoping to impress the management into a cntract at the club.
