Joel Grant scored two goals as the Alex beat Macclesfield Town 2-1 in the semi-final of Cheshire Premier Cup at Gresty Road.

In a lacklusture first half of little chances the deadlock was not broken in the second half when Macclesfield were awarded a penalty for handball in the area.

Lewis Chalmers sent Steve Phillips the wrong way to put the Silkmen 1 up but a goal from Joel Grant a short while after ensured that the game went into extra time.

With the game heading to penalties it was Grant again who netted with a goal just before the final whistle to send Crewe to the final and a match against Stockport County.
