With Lee Barnard looking to complete his long overdue loan move to Crewe in the next few days after having treatment on a ankle injury.
Crewe's management team are now hoping to purchase a striker before the transfer window closes.

Crewe look set to bank around £800k in the next few days from the sale of David Vaughan to Real Sociedad for £300k and hopefully £500k from the forthcoming tribunal of Billy Jones.

Crewe technical director Dario Gradi told the Crewe Chronicle: "We haven't given up on getting a permanent striker in before the deadline. There are people we are watching and if we find one we'll buy"

During the last few months Crewe has been linked with former Welsh International John Hartson, Wolves striker Jemal Johnson and Craig Lindfield.
