On the day that Billy Jones was announced new club captain which has turned a few heads with the appointment, Jones and the Alex started pre-season with a bang.

Thordarson used twenty-players over the 90mins at the Lyme Valley Stadium.

A strong team started the first half and at half time the Railwaymen where 2-0 thanks to goals from Clayton Donaldson (21 mins) and Anthony Elding (11 mins).

In the second half changes were made and two trialist Hamdi Razak Michael Pook both formerly of Swindon Town had 45 mins to impress Gudjon Thordarson. It was Rasak who really impressed by netting a brace.

Crewe made it 3-0 when Zola tapping in on 59 mins then four minutes later Zola netted his second with a header.

Crewe were then awarded a penalty and it was Anthony Elding stepping up to slot home the fifth goal.

Trialist Hamdi Razak then impressed with a brace when he headed home in the 71st minute and then scored his second and Crewe's seventh on 80 minutes.

Crewe's next match in a busy pre-season schedule is at home against Premiership side Wigan Athletic on Thursday 16 July at Gresty Road.
