It seems that Bristol City have now entered the race to sign Lincoln City's central defender Jamie McCombe.

As reported yesterday Crewe had triggered a clause in his contract but it now seems that Bristol City have done so likewise, the player of the year at Sincil Bank will hold talks with Gary Johnson this week. McCombe who is 23 years-old will command a fee which is believed to be £100k he has also been offered a contract by Imp's boss Keith Alexander in a bid to keep his side together and make another push for promotion out of League Two.

Since joining Lincoln City from Scunthorpe United back in March 2004, McCombe has made 100 appearances and scoring 8 goals in the process. He also scooped the player of the year award for his outstanding displays at the heart of the defence.
