23-year-old Pope who sealed a move to the Don Valley Stadium yesterday hack at the clubs management team, Pope told BBC Radio Stoke "People had more chances than me. If I had a poor game, I would be out for four weeks."

"It wasn't something I was looking to do, but I felt it was the time to give myself a new challenge and move on."

Pope went on to say "No one at Crewe ever told me if I was doing a decent job. They told me the things I did wrong, but they never gave me any chance to build my confidence or give me any encouragement. "

"It started to get me down towards the end, it was frustrating but that's football. I wanted a new challenge and I've got one at Rotherham."

Crewe's top goal scorer for last season jumped at the chance to move to Rotherham after both teams had accepted a fee of excess of  £150k with add ons.

Pope also went on to say that he was grateful of the club for signing him up and giving him the opportunity to break into league football.
