31-year-old Phillips who is on loan from League One outfit Bristol Rovers has been told that he can leave on a free transfer when the transfer window re-opens in Janury.
Phillips loan deal will expire on Sunday 3rd January 2010 and his agent is already sounded out that a few clubs are interested in taking the goalkeeper on a permanent deal.
Crewe boss Dario Gradi has already said that he would like to the sign Phillips when his loan spell expires but it seems that he will have competition from Shrewsbury Town who have already had the keeper on loan earlier on in the season.
Phillips agent has gone on record by saying that a few SPL clubs are interested in signing the keeper and that the keeper will make a decision on his next club come January.
