The academy graduate has been on the fringes of the side for the past three or four years but has never suceeded in making the grade. Last season saw him as the main third choice striker, making a starts against Leicester, Millwall Cardiff, but this season he's been knocked down to sixth choice. Dean Ashton, Steve Jones, Mark Rivers, Michael Higdon and James Robinson are all impressing Dario more, whilst Kyle Wilson and Nicky Maynard in the U-18's are waiting to burst on to the scene.

Dario told CreweAlex.net, the official site; "Paul has asked to leave and we have accepted his decision. He first came to us in pre-season asking to go, but we refused at the time because we had spent a lot of time with him trying to develop him as a player.

"There comes a time where you have to stop hitting your head against a wall and we are making Paul available either on a free transfer or on loan. He has a year left on his contract here, so it maybe that he elects to go out on loan for the time being.

"We have circulated his details and are waiting for a response. Because he has not been able to train or play as often as he would've have liked, he has slipped down the order here. He is now sixth choice and I still believe playing up front is James Robinson's best position."

Paul made a total of 13 appearances for Crewe without scoring, whilst going on loan to Stafford Rangers and Southport over the past couple of years.
