Well it seems that no sooner the season is nearly over that the national tabloids go into a summer transfer speculation frenzy.

On Sunday in the News of the World they had a small story that Crewe had rejected a £1.4m bid from Championship side Cardiff City for young hotshot Nicky Maynard.

Today the Daily Mirror have a story, Luke (Varney)has the force for Southgate.

The snippet went on to say that Gareth Southgate is ready to take a £1m plunge in Crewe strike Luke Varney.
The Middlesborough boss wants new and fresh legs in attack for next season and has turned to the 17-goal League One marksman, the latest product of Dario Gradi's skill factory.
Varney, 24, also scored against Manchester United in the Carling Cup this season.

What are your thoughts on the early speculation and can we hold onto our leathal duo?
