According to Cardiff fans and News Of The World former midfielder Gareth Whalley could be set to return to Gresty Road. Whalley spent six years as a Crewe trainee between 92 and 98 and return from Bradford in 2001 on a 3 month loan before signing for Cardiff. Whalley is expected to leave Cardiff after a dispute over a £50,000 bonus, with Bristol City and Swindon also said to be interested.
According to local radio in Tranmere Crewe are interested in re-signing Alan Navarro. The scouser spent a month onloan in 2001 where he played seven games and scored one goal. The midfielder-cum-defender was sold by Liverpool to Tranmere in 2002 but hasn't had the best spell at the club with only 33 appearances.
Crewe have been linked with Nick Chadwick of Everton and Neil Mellor of Liverpool. The media say one of the two could be the striker who Dario has virtually secured for the new season. CreweAlex.com first broke the news that Dario was interested in Chadwick back in 2003 but the deal fell through due to Moyes not wanting him to leave, whilst Crewe tried to secure the services of Neil Mellor in 2002 but Houllier didn't want the youngster to leave. Mellor scored 10 goals in his last four Liverpool reserve games thus season.
As usual there are messageboard rumours, with former players like Mark Rivers being linked to us on Norwich boards and Rob Hulse is also a supposed loan target for Dario. Man Utd's Daniel Nardiello also made the list of Dario's targets.
*These are all simple rumours, there may or may not be any truth in the stories.*
