Former player Luke Rodgers struck his 6th and 7th goal in Port Vale's pre-season schedule as the Valiants ran riot again.
The Valiants brushed aside a stong Sheffield Wednesday team as they won 3-0 at Vale Park.
Meanwhile at Haig Avenue, Rodney Jack started for Southport and again Rodders shone for the Sandgrounders. Jack who was released during the summer was the star of the show for the second match running as he scored the first goal and set up the second as the Blue Square outfit saw off a full strengthed Macclesfield team.
Lee Bell who is on trial at Mansfield Town impressed again as the Stags beat Crewe's next pre-season Derby County 2-0.
Bell who has already been offered a contract at Field Mill played 66 minutes for the Stags and is expected to sign for Billy Dearden's team.
Michael Higdon failed to score for Falkirk but his team ended their pre-season with a 2-1 over Ajax. Higdon's team will now look to next Saturday's curtain raiser agasint Gretna in the SPL.
