O'Connor ruled out for the season.

It seems that Michael O'Connor has played his last game of the season and looks set to miss the remaining nine games left.

The Irish midfielder has made 30 appearances but suffered a horrendous tackle against this Saturday's opponents Bristol City back in October and has somewhat struggled since recovering from the knee injury he picked up at Ashton Gate.

Gradi confirmed that 'growing pains' have ended his season earlier than expected with the burden placed on O'Connor this season it started to take its toll.

"It seems Michael is still growing and we have been monitoring that very closely because it has meant he has picked up one or two niggling injuries," Gradi told the club's official website.

"He has been complaining of stiffness in his back and with his groin, so we will only look to play him in a real emergency.

"His body is still settling down and it happens with the younger lads. Rob Hulse was the same and he missed quite a lot of football because of his back.

"You just have to act with a bit of caution.

"I don't think we will be seeing much more of Michael this season. It is his first full season and it has began to take its toll a bit with his fitness."
