The Northern Ireland international has decided to extend his stay at Gresty Road until 2010 after having improved terms offered to him.
Belfast born O'Connor has managed to make 23 apperances this season and has impressed Steve Holland with some of displays on the pitch as the Railwaymen have fought against relegation.
His performances had also caught the eye of Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington who called up O'Connor to the Northern Ireland squad back in March in which O'Connor came on as a sub to gain his first cap.
O'Connor has been out in recent weeks with a groin injury but the Irishman has trained with the first team and could feature against Oldham Athletic on Saturday.
